About the Artist:

Jaime Alonso Arias Márquez is an oil painter based in El Paso, Texas, whose work is deeply rooted in his Mexican cultural heritage.   For Jaime, there was always a struggle to find his voice, however, he found that voice in the "voiceless".  For many years he spent his weekends volunteering at local animal shelters, where he found the many needs of the "voiceless".  He began painting dogs, and wildlife while at the same time honing his painting skills.  His experience painting animals begin his painting career, and so he started painting other people's beautiful furry companions throughout the U.S., Canada and even Europe, but has since found his own voice in the rich and beautiful Mexican culture.

Through rich color, expressive brushwork, and meaningful symbolism, Jaime explores traditions, identity, and everyday life inspired by the culture that shaped him.  A central theme in his work is the Día de los Muertos holiday, which appears prominently throughout his paintings. Drawn to its powerful symbolism, vibrant colors, and celebration of remembrance, Jaime incorporates imagery that honors tradition, spirituality, and the connection between past and present.

In addition to cultural themes, Jaime's deep love for animals continues, and are frequently central subjects in his paintings. Whether portraying wildlife, domestic animals, or symbolic creatures, his work reflects both admiration and emotional connection to the natural world.

Driven purely by passion, Jaime’s artistic journey is guided by instinct and personal experience rather than formal training. Painting is more than a practice for him—it is a calling. His dedication to his creations defines his life’s work, and he cannot imagine pursuing any other path.
